Reminder to Complete CPCA Requirement
and Avoid CPCA Overdue Fee
Completing all four components of the Continued Professional Certification (CPC) program before your CPC renewal is an essential part of protecting your ability to continue practicing as a CRNA, and is designed to meet Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) regulatory requirements of every state Board of Nursing.
The Continued Professional Certification Assessment (CPCA), a required component of the CPC program, can be taken anytime during your second four-year CPC cycle, but it should be completed six months before your credential renewal deadline.
- The CPCA is an assessment capturing a snapshot of your current knowledge, not a traditional pass/fail exam where studying is required beforehand.
- Class A, Class B, and Core Modules are NOT required to be completed before your CPCA.
- All CRNAs will have to take the CPCA at least once in its current form, regardless of the outcome of the NBCRNA Longitudinal Assessment research study.
To see your personalized CPC program timeline, log in to the NBCRNA portal and click on CPC Timeline.
CRNAs who do not fulfill their CPCA requirement up to six months before their CPC renewal deadline will be assessed a CPCA overdue fee when scheduling their CPCA. The overdue fee is $75 if taken between three to six months from their CPC renewal deadline, and $125 if the CPCA is taken less than three months from their CPC renewal deadline.
We encourage all CRNAs in their second four-year CPC cycle to schedule their CPCA as early as possible to avoid overdue fees or other potential issues with your CPC renewal.
