Leadership for 2025
CHICAGO, October 15, 2024 - The National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) is pleased to announce its new Executive Committee on the Board of Directors for fiscal year 2025: President Garry Brydges PHD, DNP, MBA, MHA, CRNA, ACNP-BC, FAAN, FAANA, Vice President Robert T. Laird, BSN, CRNA, and Secretary-Treasurer Sonya D. Moore, DNP, MSN, CRNA, FAANA, FAAN. Their terms began on October 4, 2024, following the conclusion of the October Board of Directors meeting.
“It is an absolute honor to assume the role of NBCRNA Board President. The warmest thanks to outgoing Board President Susan McMullan, PhD, CRNA, CNE, CHSE, FAANA, FAAN, who provided exceptional leadership and direction during her tenure,” said Dr. Brydges. “The NBCRNA has significant and exciting initiatives on the horizon that reaffirm our commitment to support lifelong learning among CRNAs, and I am eager to work together with the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, NBCRNA CEO John C. Preston, DNSc, CRNA, APRN, FAANA, FNAP, FAAN and the rest of the NBCRNA staff to help achieve those goals.”
New board members Sara Myers, DNP, CRNA, Benoit Blondeau, MD, MBA, FACS, Dawn Bent, DNP, CRNA, FAANA, and Emerging Leader Fellow Jasmine C. Kamran, DNP, CRNA, NSPM-Fellow commenced their service on the board during the meeting.
“Our new officers embody the highest standards and possess the skills and knowledge to support NBCRNA’s mission and vision well into the future.” said Dr. Preston. “It is a pleasure and privilege to work with such high-caliber leaders who are on our Board of Directors."
Additionally, outgoing board members Lori Anderson, DNP, MSN, CRNA, FAANA, Susan McMullan, PhD, CRNA, CNE, CHSE, FAANA, FAAN, Sarah E. Giron, PhD, CRNA, FAANA, Ellen Reynolds, MD, FACS, and Priscilla Aguirre, DNP, CRNA, CHSE were recognized and congratulated for their years of service on the NBCRNA Board at the meetings conclusion.
The NBCRNA Board of Directors are volunteers that spend an estimated 300 hours per year on this important commitment, leading the strategic direction of the organization. The members of the Board of Directors are recognized as leaders in nurse anesthesia and related fields. Board members represent the profession and the public, and members of the Board are elected to serve staggered three-year terms. Two of the CRNA Board Directors are elected by certified CRNAs through an open election by the CRNA community.

The National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) is the United States certifying body for the initial, continued and subspecialty certification of the more than 60,000 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). NBCRNA’s primary responsibility is to guard the well-being of the public by seeking to ensure that those who secure the CRNA credential have the necessary knowledge and skills to practice safely and effectively. NBCRNA accomplishes this mission through the development and implementation of credentialing programs that support lifelong learning among nurse anesthetists.
